We have all splurged on a beautiful new handbag for work, loaded it up with all of our expensive devices and other handbag essentials such as wallet, sunglasses, cosmetics, pens, phones and portable chargers…...Only to find that within a few weeks of use, our beautiful bag has turned into a complete disorganized mess, and all our devices are scratched, business cards crumpled up, cosmetics have snapped, the handbags handles have broken (or at the very least showing shocking signs of wear) and the body of the bag is completely misshaped.
Did you know that this is because traditional handbags and totes have not been designed or engineered specifically for tech?
Did you know that even the factories that manufacture 'Tech Accessories' & 'Handbags' are completely different with completely different skill sets?
Handbag brands may include a pocket for a laptop and then call it 'laptop friendly' but they are not, and here is why!
- THE HANDLES ARE NOWHERE NEAR REINFORCED ENOUGH
First and foremost the handles are not reinforced to the degree required for the weight of your device plus all your other belongings. Handbags are generally designed to carry belongings such as wallets, sunglasses and cosmetics etc., but when you put in the added weight of tech, they fall apart much more quickly.
Code Republic Designer Laptop Bag handles have 3 different types of reinforcement to ensure they are the strongest, most durable handles available.
2. THEY HAVE PAINTED EDGES
With heavy use (And let's face it, a work bag always receives heavy use) painted edges crack and peel. Code Republic Designer Laptop Bags have folded edges meaning there is no material that can crack or lift over time.
3. HANDLES ONLY SUPPORT THE TOP OF THE BAG
Where the handles attach to a handbag is where the bag receives the most stress. Our handles are attached to the top visually, but we actually have a full reinforced strap that runs and cradles the full way under the body of the bag and back up to the other handle, meaning the stress from the device weight is transferred to the base of the bag so the life of the handles is extended.
4. MOST HANDBAGS HAVE A THIN FLEXIBLE LINING
Meaning that once you put a device in your everyday bag, it is not protected, and your bag becomes misshapen and leans over due to gravity pulling the weight of the laptop down. Our bags are designed with a firm protective core increasing device protection, keeping the bag standing upright, and eliminating slouching over time and a perfectly engineered tapered side profile to ergonomically fit comfortably under your arm, and additionally, it also perfectly balances the weight distribution.
5. NO ORGANIZATION
Being organized helps us perform at our best, and make the best first impressions. How many times have you been in a meeting and you need to find something in your bottomless pit of a handbag, embarrassed as you pull out item by item until you find that one thing you are looking for? Code Republic Designer Laptop Bags have 13 separate pockets and compartments so everything can stay organized, but is also protected and won’t scratch against each other. Using a separate organizer insert might help with all the mess in your bag, but the handles and reinforcements are still not designed for it…. so it will still be the death of your bag!
6. LACK OF FUNCTIONALITY.
Because handbags are not designed for tech, they are limited in the way you might like to carry it when it starts to get cumbersome, or you need two hands while traveling for example. We have designed our Designer Laptop Bags to be worn 6 different ways. Over shoulder, over arm, hand held, cross body, backpack or attached to your luggage.
7. THIS LAST ONE MIGHT SURPRISE YOU.....LESS PAY RAISES AT WORK.
This is more tailored to higher end luxury handbags, but did you know that apparently there have been studies done and women who carry high priced luxury bags ($2K+) are less likely to get a pay raise at work as apparently it can appear that you do not need the money. 😲 Seems absolutely ridiculous to me, but if there is any truth to this, I guess it is yet another reason why a high quality but accessible luxury price point like a CODE REPUBLIC bag is a much better investment.
Look good, feel great, keep organized and leave an impression everywhere you go with your devices protected.
