Having worked in the technology industry for many years, CODE REPUBLIC founder, Anthea Rowan, spent her days rushing from casual office to formal client meetings and conferences, to pilates classes and drinks with friends – always with her laptop in tow. For years, she’d been on a quest to find a handbag that allowed her to go seamlessly from one event to another, but the perfect bag had always eluded her.

Disappointed by the lack of versatility in the handbag market, she wondered if she was alone. She spoke to friends and colleagues about the bags they were using for work. The majority, like her, were carrying multiple bags to the office, creating a hodgepodge system to carry their tech devices, lunch, workout gear and makeup. Many had simply abandoned any effort to look elegant on their commute.

It wasn’t until 12 months ago that Rowan decided to take the plunge, and look to solve the problem herself. “The transition from employee to entrepreneur has proven both incredible and terrifying, but I resigned from my steady job with a leading PC manufacturer to focus solely on this business idea that had been on my mind for far too long. Made from genuine cowhide leather, the debut collection consists of four styles in three colourways – DANIELLE, SONYA, NICOLE and LISA.  On the surface they are streamlined and chic but inside they’re intricately engineered with several thoughtful compartments for all your needs.

With compartments to keep everything organised, the interior includes pockets for protecting laptops, tablets, phones, cables and chargers. But beyond protecting tech, the new offerings help people get organised, with thoughtfully placed pockets and compartments for sunglasses, pens, lipstick and an insulated pocket for a water bottle or umbrella. Keeping valuables safe, the top closing zip helps to keep everything concealed when travelling.

All handbags in the debut collection feature signature rose gold hardware accents and a luxurious palm leaf lining, designed to whisk the owner away from day-to-day, encouraging them to refresh and reset every time the bag is opened. Featuring a 9-inch handle drop with elegant tapered side profile, the handbags are designed to sit comfortably over the shoulder and under the arm.  All the handbags feature strong reinforced straps to support the weight being carried around over a long period of time.
